Thank you to every one that came out to our Little Rock Open House on Friday, May 10. The turnout was incredible, and recruiters from 7 different trucking companies were able to make pre-hire offers to more than 100 people interested in becoming professional truck drivers.
More than 200 students, drivers, recruiters and people interested in getting started as truck drivers were in attendance!
Such a great turnout – the parking lot is almost filled an hour before the Open House even began!
Those in attendance got to speak with recruiters from DDA as well as recruiters from:
and Covenant Transport
Ron Landon is a brand new driver for Covenant Transport. He says he loves travel – and making a lot of money! He was formerly a carpentry foreman for one of the nations largest construction companies. He helped build some of Las Vegas’ most famous hotels including the Wynn, Venetian and Trump tower.
He became a professional driver because of the pay and benefits. And he’s looking forward to becoming a trainer soon.
Dale Hunt and Kathy Powell met with CDL students at the Job Fair. Kathy has been a professional driver for two years and loves the career. She comes from a trucking background – she managed the family truck stop for 10 years.
Now as a driver for Werner she’s getting to see the entire country and is making more money than ever before. She is already a member of the prestigious Werner Road Team (there are just 10 members out of the 7500 Werner drivers). That’s an amazing accomplishment for a new driver!
DDA’s program is approved for VA benefits and DDA has trained nearly 1000 military veterans!
DDA staff and trucking recruiters were able to speak with some veterans about the transition into civilian life and starting training for a CDL.
If you or someone you know is a military veteran and would like more information on how to use VA benefits for CDL training, please contact our Veterans Career Counselors today at 1-800-551-8900!
Thanks again to everyone who participate in this event on Friday! We are already looking forward to the next one!
