It can sometimes be easy to overlook the role commercial truck drivers play in America’s economy. Millions of commercial trucks pass us by on the highways and roads of this country each day, but it’s not very often that we stop to consider the important role these trucks and their drivers plays in our nation and its journey out of the Great Recession.
Almost 80 percent of all items in this country spend at least some time on a truck and almost everything in our home today wouldn’t be here without the work of a commercial truck driver. Even while the national economy continues to struggle, the commercial truck industry has been growing and hiring thousands of professional truck drivers each month.
As a part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, Bill Graves, CEO and President of the American Trucking Associations, took time to thank the millions of professional commercial truck drivers on the road today that help move America forward and who are playing an important role in keeping the nation’s economy afloat.
“On behalf of the American Trucking Associations, I’d like to say thank you to the 3.1 million professional truck drivers who deliver America’s freight, safely and securely, every day,” Graves said in a statement to commemorate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week. “As a result of your commitment, our nation’s highways are the safest they have ever been, our grocery store shelves are stocked, our hospitals have the medicine people need and our homes are filled with life’s essentials.”
Graves also said the nation owes a lot truck drivers and that the trucking industry should be proud of its drivers, which are filling a growing demand for more commercial truck services.
“I am proud to be in this great industry and honored to thank you for a job well done,” Graves added.
Commercial truck drivers are in great demand these days as thousands of drivers are hired each month to help carriers all across the country keep up with growing demand, especially as other industries – such as manufacturing and home construction – finally begin to show some signs of improvement after years of decline. Because of the growing demand, many job seekers are finding an opportunity as a truck driver, especially those who complete professional training at a respected CDL school, like Diesel Driving Academy.
If you are looking for a new career then completing the CDL training program at the Diesel Driving Academy is the best place to start, especially with the demand only expected to continue to grow in the coming months and years, and with commercial truck drivers continuing to play such an important role in America’s journey from the economic recession towards economic success.
