Basic Class A CDL Training Program
The Basic Class A CDL Driver Training Program at DDA trains students for entry-level Class A truck driving jobs in local, regional, or over-the-road (OTR) routes. No previous trucking experience is required to begin this program. Before enrolling, students must adhere to all of the qualifications set forth by the FMCSA and the ELDT mandate. They also need to pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam.
Basic Class A CDL Training Program Highlights
Day Program Duration: 4 weeks (160 clock hours)
Requirements: Must be 21 years of age by graduation. Admissions Representatives will cover all admissions policies and entrance requirements.
Curriculum: The driver training program includes classroom instruction, as well as hands-on training based on industry standards. Students will practice driving on our closed driving range, as well as on public roadways with a qualified driving instructor.
Graduates of this program will gain the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of an entry-level truck driver.
What Will I Learn in this CDL Training Program?
Students enrolled in DDA’s Basic Class A CDL Training Program will gain the necessary skills and knowledge to be prepared for both portions of the Commercial Driver License (CDL) exam. Our experienced instructors will help students become familiar with our state-of-the-art tractor-trailer systems through a mix of classroom and behind-the-wheel training. Topics to be covered throughout the program include:
- Traffic laws
- Truck backing & maneuvering,
- Pre and post-trip inspection
- Safe driving regulations
Students will practice driving on our closed driving range, as well as on public roadways with a qualified driving instructor.
Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) Compliant Program
Diesel Driving Academy is authorized to offer CDL training following the ELDT Mandate, which went into effect on February 7, 2022. The ELDT Mandate requires training providers to divides CDL training into two parts: classroom theory and behind-the-wheel training, both in the yard and on the road.
